[It was a long week, but unlike the last stretch they went without seeing each other, Elliot understood why. Things were awkward between them, and both of them needed time to figure out how to mend the gap between them.
So while Eren works hard on getting better, Elliot turns to his own source of strength: music. The writer's block that came with the perpetual night still lingers, so he spends his energy bettering himself at a guitar he rented from the school. He starts out clumsy and he has to get gloves to make up for his inability to make callouses, but he pours his heart into it and with each day he gets a little better.
If Angela couldn't play anymore, someone had to take up the torch.
He was just wrapping up a productive practice session when he gets the text. Just seeing who the text was from makes his heart jump a little. Figures Eren would beat him to the punch, he'd been planning to text him after he got home tonight. He missed Eren so much, and he was starting to feel ready to see him again.
Reading the actual message gives him pause. He wanted him to go to the woods alone? His heart now jumps into his throat. That...was a lot bigger jump than Elliot had been planning for their first interaction since what happened. He'd been planning dinner, maybe having a conversation to clear the air. Leave it to Eren to want to cannonball into an issue. There's an urge to text him back and tell him no, that that was much too big a step for the first step.
...
But...he did trust Eren. He knows that Eren would never willingly put him into danger. If Eren was willing to ask him out there, alone, then it had to mean he was sure things would be okay.
So, with more hesistation than part of him would like, and against the possibly better judgement of the other part of him, he'll get on the next bus that takes him near the woods. He listens to the music on his phone the whole way- the stuff that encourages him to take actions like this. Once he's off the bus and it drives out of view, he'll put away his earphones and head for the forest entrance- spotting Eren nearby]
