I regret not telling you all sooner but I've been busy. I've been acting as James Barnes' attorney, and as you likely all know he was charged with Zee's murder despite his innocence.
I'm going to have a word with whoever posted all that case information and pointed the finger at Eren and several others as possible suspects. This is problematic on several fronts. I won't bore you with the details.
Anyway, if any of you have concerns about the case or find yourself getting pressed for information please let me know.
Am I going to get called in or something by app users investigating, or will this be publicly released? It’s hard to explain items we get from Retrospec to the non app users, I can’t imagine something that can magically kill people.
Plus, my mom and sister are going to have heart attacks if they ever hear about this.
I spoke to Zee ten days before he died. It had been one of his last contacts.
But I put all the information he gave me on a post earlier this month and posted the conversation if anyone wanted to look. Don’t know why they didn’t post them in the first place if they’re that dead set on throwing names out there.
The pool’s already gotten smaller after Joanne confirmed it was another Retrospec user, not an outside force. Maybe someone got into his office, or had to see him somehow for the magic item to work after.
But pinning it directly on the people who spoke to him and not just question their conversations was pretty stupid, especially if the conversations were “irrelevant to the case”, “personal issues” or “retrospec’s situation”.
To my knowledge nobody is trying to pass all that information to the press. I don't know if an attempt to tell the general public would be successful when the case is so closely tied to Retrospec. I'm still trying to figure out how this case would be processed when so many non-app users would be involved. I hope it won't come to those on the network being forced to handle it alone.
That and releasing those names might be a recipe for a slander suit against the publisher. It's not the police's list, after all, merely an observation and a large amount of speculation on the part of the "Watchers."
I think they're James's friends from school. I suspected based on the dramatic name choice and their desperation to throw suspicion on people other than James so I took a risk and revealed that I was his lawyer. They flailed. Didn't get any names and they refused to meet but if I asked James he might ID them.
Oh, good luck Uncle! I hope you can clear his name, I really don't think it was him. We were on the same mission together, and James didn't have any magic like that.
A word with them would be appreciated...it's bad enough Eren got listed, but I feel bad for the others too.
James showed no signs of lying about what happened to Zee. I'm positive he's innocent of this crime. I tried to convince him to wait to turn himself in for the crimes he did commit until after the real criminal was found but he refused. His previous violence towards Zee and record made it easy for the murder to be pinned on him.
Are you familiar with any of the others on the list? I know Togusa from work and James of course. I've bumped into Akira at the courthouse but I don't know him well.
So that's what happened....I was wondering how they pinned it on him so fast.
I don't know him well, but Futaba's close to Leo. I don't think he did it. And Minato wasn't even on the app when Zee got murdered, so there's no way he did it.
Thought that might be the case. I never thought it was Leo anyway.
Good luck I sent them text logs and explained how Eren didn't have the power to do it But they were being really stubborn about not ruling out suspects.
You know I'll take your word as proof Leo is innocent. If his abilities don't match up with the crime or if his relationship with Zee was amicable that might sway those who won't believe your alibi for him.
But I'm also sure everyone without a law background is thinking about, if the murder was caused by some sort of mind control gun, how do you even prove that in a court?
Yes, I've been concerned about that myself. We wouldn't want to bring this to court only for the result to be a mistrial or even a not guilty verdict because the jury and judge are not on Retrospec's network.
I've asked Officer Togusa what he has observed from other officers when he notes Retrospec related events in his files. So far nobody has come to him asking why he noted superpowers or magical swords. They haven't reacted like the files had blanks either.
That lines up with what I've experienced. I've sold glowing food at the farmer's market for months, and no one off the app's ever noticed that it's glowing.

I know they want to find the killer like we do, but listing you guys like that was so... [UGH] You and Leo don't need this.
