Yep. Magikarp's completely useless until you get it to level 20, and then it turns into Gyarados. Water/flying, pretty strong.

And there's a whole phone game about raising Magikarp to jump super high. I guess there's that. It's not useful in battle though

Oh yeah! There's a couple pokemon phone games. Pokemon Go and Magikarp Jump right?

I played them for a bit, but I eventually had to erase them to make room for music files.

Yeah. There's a puzzle one, too. Used to be really into that for a little while.

Magikarp Jump is the one about the fish, it's dumb, but it's fun enough for a little while. Pokemon Go is way more interesting long-term, though. Not like I really go for gyms or anything, but it's nice just to keep it on in my pocket walking to and from class.

...I'm almost afraid to ask how many music files you have

We're in the same college field: paramedicine. So he's taken it upon himself to make himself my academic coach and nutritionist. I think he gets some sick satisfaction on seeing me in pain too, but the jury's still out on that
