There's a number of things that have Rean up and active an hour and a half before he'd usually be. First is that he simply didn't sleep well the night prior – he'd hoped maybe he'd sleep better with it being his first time back in his own bed in three weeks, but instead he found himself tossing and turning, missing Pachinko's weight on him and the sounds of Crow moving around upstairs.
Second is the dream he just had – no, not a dream, a memory. That face is still too seared into his mind to have been a simple dream. An imposing man with shoulder-length hair and a piercing gaze, warning Rean and his class of "turbulent times to come..."
And then chest pains.
It's not the first time he's felt pain in his chest related to a memory. He remembers it from fighting off that suit of armor with Crow, too, although at the time he'd dismissed it as being injured from the fight. This, though? There was no easy way to dismiss it.
In fact, it's still aching a little when he gets up and starts getting ready for the day, but it's more of a phantom pain now than anything. He's nervous, but trying to just go about his normal routine and see if it eases up before he starts panicking—
The whole "don't panic" plan gets dashed straight to hell the minute he catches a glimpse of his torso in the mirror. The scar from last month's bullet wound is something he's started to grow used to, but this? This is new, and frightening.
Giving up on the whole morning routine plan for the time being, Rean slinks over to his desk chair and falls heavily into it, numbly reaching out for his phone and tapping out a message to the group.]
Uh, hey. Weird question
Do either of you happen to remember me having a scar?
[His heaving sigh of relief might just be audible.]
Oh, thank goodness. I was worried this could be REALLY bad news for past me, but if it was just kind of hanging around then too I guess I don't really need to worry
The one time I ask you to get your "beauty sleep" and now you refuse? And you call ME the contrary one
But yeah just woke up with it... had a dream/memory about this guy who was pretty intimidating and made my chest hurt for some reason, and then when I woke up, bam. Giant chest scar.
Hang on though
[Well, since Crow asked and he sees no harm in sharing it, they will in fact get a picture! Rean's still in pajama pants and holding up the bottom edge of his shirt to try to show it in a mirror selfie.
His hair is not nearly as spiky as it usually is right now. Crow will probably realize that's because he hasn't gone and styled it yet.
With the shirt where it is, it covers up a little bit of the top edge of the scar, as well as the bullet scar.]
Yeah, I remember that, too, and I thought it must have been just that it hit me. But... well, obviously something hit me way before that! It is weird that I didn't even have any idea what it was back then, though. You'd think you'd remember something that obviously traumatic.
I'm fine now, if anything I feel like I slept on something weird, which is very possible
That's how I get a lot of them back. Can't say I've had the most restful sleep since I started on the app, haha...
I guess you have a point there, though. Ah, well. If it didn't bother past me I'm going to try not to let it bother me too much, it's not like it hurts or anything
Oh god I'm going to have to explain this to my sister though
Right? As if things weren't enough as it is. Ah, well.
...Yeah, no, I'm gonna have to veto that. That might work coming out of someone like you, but I'm pretty sure it would cause Raina to dial a doctor for me.
Probably ought to just be straightforward with it. She's angry enough with me as it is.
Surprised you guys didn't pick up on it at dinner.
[Then again, we haven't threaded it so she was probably just being unfailingly polite and formal. And they don't know her well enough to know what that really indicates.]
She's angry because I didn't tell her about any of what happened last month and she found out through the responses to Zee's post. So, you know, being coy about anything with her right now probably isn't the best idea.
Thanks. I'm just going to talk to her once I've got a little more time to sit down and actually read through replies. Can't imagine this is going to be an easy conversation no matter what

Which when he does see the message? He gives a soft "oh..." to himself as types out of a response]
Yeah, I do.

A big one right over my heart?
[Please say yes.]

I remember seeing it during a swim class. Apparently the other Rean didn't know how he got it.

Still, he's half asleep so don't expect coherent text.]

[because that sounds worrying. But oh...oh that photo. That sure is getting looked at a good moment before he responds.
What nothing wrong with looking]
Yeah that's the scar I remember. Still think it's pretty cool looking.

[Crow, you disaster.]
Now that you mention it, you did grab your chest when we were linked against that giant armor...maybe you got hit there?
[A logical conclusion, if inaccurate. Also don't mind if Crow sizes up that eye candy as well.]
Now that's one hell of a scar. Funny you don't even remember it back in your world...

Yeah, I remember that, too, and I thought it must have been just that it hit me. But... well, obviously something hit me way before that! It is weird that I didn't even have any idea what it was back then, though. You'd think you'd remember something that obviously traumatic.

A scar like that, maybe it's good you DON'T remember. It had to have been a pretty bad experience with how big it is.

My sleep cycle's never been stellar, but these memories choose my one downtime to just jolt me awake
My suggestion: Lead with a joke. Like 'hey sis, you'll never guess what scarred me for past-life. seriously, you won't cause I don't know either'

Yeah, that's probably for the best
Take it from first hand experience from me, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Welp, that's pretty bad. Good luck..I'm sure you guys will work things out though. Even if it's a bumpy ride.

Thanks. I'm just going to talk to her once I've got a little more time to sit down and actually read through replies. Can't imagine this is going to be an easy conversation no matter what

You two will be okay, I know it.
