Do you want me to start melting up the fondue?

. . . That sounds good.

[ and after a bit of silence, his attention more on what he’s doing, he lifts a hand to call elliot over. ]

[fiddlestick]

Okay.

[Elliot busies himself with digging out the fondue pot as well as the chocolate that he's supposed to melt, setting that all up.

He'll notice that hand raise, and heads over]

Yeah?

[ there’s no warm smile as he does this, but that doesn’t mean he’s unhappy— just reflecting constantly despite their casual chatter, it was a little hard to bounce up into a grinning bundle when he couldn’t take back what he did, despite his hands not wearing a single trace of his stupidity. he stops what he’s doing to turn some, to lean his head down and plant a chaste and lingering kiss to elliot’s forehead, holding there to breathe in the scent of his hair and keep his lips to skin and strands of ginger locks.

he doesn’t say anything, but it conveys everything as he pulls away with a contemplative look in his eyes and— well, there goes the phone’s alarm. quietly, he’ll go back to work, separating the first ball of dough and going onto the second one.

actually saying “sorry” sounded so damn empty to him, but he tries differently. “thanks for being here” was something he was feeling too, but actions speak louder anyway. ]
