[She waits a while, until they've both had a chance to settle in after returning back to camp. After all, she doesn't want to make him nervous, even if she's been told something he isn't aware she knows. With the rations she was given, she approaches Elliot as the sun is steadily sinking lower. Despite how perturbed she is, he gets a look with a fair amount of concern.]

Hey there. Welcome back.

[fiddlestick]

[Elliot was in the middle of doing maintenance on his staff. His day off had been a great one, so he had returned in better spirits, but seeing how much the forest had suffered while they were gone? Did put a damper on those bright spirits some. It hit home much harder just how serious this situation was.

Still, he'll look up when Natalie approaches him and gives a smile]

Hey, you too. Have a good day off?

[robitussin]

Yeah, it was nice. I spent it with my family, so that was cool. How about you?

[fiddlestick]

Oh, that's good!

Great! Spent half the day cooking and catching up with friends, and then I had a date with my boyfriend. It was just what I needed.

[And they even behaved themselves on the date, so hey, no horrifying things for Natalie beyond occasional sappiness.]

[robitussin]

You haven't gotten sick of cooking the past few weeks, huh? I hope you too had a good time with him.

[And, regarding both of those topics:]

Actually, he gave me something to give you.

[fiddlestick]

I had a great time! But no, I'd say I'm pretty sick of cooking. If I could afford it? I'd spend my first week back in town after this eating nothing but take-out.

[But alas, the lack of income this month puts the end to that plan. Maybe he can just eat dry ramen or something....

But oh, that catches him by surprise]

He did? Really? I didn't know you two knew each other.

[robitussin]

I mean, if you're tired of it, you could try to pass it off to someone.else here. I'm not, like, an expert in cooking, but I could try to help out.

[He gets another nod to that statement.]

Yeah. He made sure to send enough rations for you for as long as we stay here.

[fiddlestick]

[He open his mouth to respond to that first part, that no it's okay, he liked helping out.

But then she mentions "rations" and his face just freezes.]

......You're kidding.

[eREN WHY]

[robitussin]

Definitely not kidding. Have you been eating enough?

[Save Elliot.]

[fiddlestick]

What? O-Of course I have! You've seen me at mealtimes!

[Eating...smaller portions....but he's a smaller person! It's fine!!]

[robitussin]

I have, yeah, but...

[She might have seen him, but maybe she wasn't paying enough attention to this trend, either.]

He said you seemed... Thinner, if that makes sense.

[fiddlestick]

I-

[He pauses at that, his mind going back to their brief exchange about him eating. Eren had expressed some concern, but...ugh. Maybe he underestimated just how worried he is]

I-It's just a few pounds. And it's only because we've been so active, and had to ration food out since no one brought enough for two weeks.

I'm not starving myself...it'd be no good if I passed out on you guys.

[robitussin]

[She hesitates, but then nods.]

Okay. But... Now that there's stuff for you, you've gotta eat the stuff he wanted to pass along to you. Like, all of it. Promise?

[fiddlestick]

[Elliot makes a face, one akin to a little kid being told to eat his vegetables. He does not like this promise. Not because he's against eating, but hoarding food feels wrong to him.

Also...there's a good chance these rations might be army rations. He hates army rations.

So, he holds off on promising]

What...did he give exactly?

[robitussin]

From what I saw... A lot of protein bars, some chocolate flavored stuff, and, like, some drinks designed for athletes.

[She opens the pack to show him.]

[fiddlestick]

[He'll lean over to look at the pack. Sure enough. Chocolate flavored/covered, as well as fruity flavored athletic drinks. ]

He picked flavors he knew I'd eat.

[He lets out a sigh. Natalie will get the feeling that's a mixed between being both touched by Eren's thoughtfulness, and really annoyed at him.

But that's not really Natalie's fault. He'll just have to talk to Eren]

Fine. I'll eat it.

[robitussin]

[Once she gets both of those feelings, she pauses for a moment.]

...He's just looking out for you, you know.

[fiddlestick]

[He hesitates]

I-I know... But he could've talked to me about it.

[robitussin]

Maybe he was worried about how you would react, or suspected if he gave it to you, you would just give it to someone else? I don't know.

[fiddlestick]

I-I'd ... only do that if they didn't have any food for themselves...

[In other words, Eren was 100% right on the money there]

[robitussin]

It's not your fault they didn't pack adequately.

[fiddlestick]

N-No, I guess not...

[Looks conflicted about this. Don't trust him with the food supply]

[robitussin]

You guess? Why are you only guessing?

[fiddlestick]

Erm...

I-It's not...my fault?

[robitussin]

That sounded suspiciously like a question.
