ELLIOT'S ARCUS

Elliot's ARCUS when closed.
Okay going to try to make this brief but informative. JRPG magic-tech bullshit let's go!!!!
QUARTZ - These are magic stones that are native to the world of Zemuria. Quartz typically come in 7 elements: fire, water, earth, wind, time, space and mirage. There's two main types of quartz: normal quartz and Master Quartz. Normal quartz are small and can usually only do one thing, while Master Quartz are larger and you can do more with them. The real cool thing about quartz though is they recharge their own energy over time, so you never have to replace one. Sweet!
THE ARCUS II: The ARCUS II is a type of orbment. An Orbment is a piece of technology that allows a user to draw out magical energy from a special magical stone (quartz). In Zemuria there are orbments that are designed to do all sorts of technological things from the mundane (house lights) to the fantastical (GIANT MECHS). The ARCUS II in particular is designed for both communication and combat. ARCUS is an acronym (I can't remember what and it's not relevant), and the II just means its the second generation of ARCUS.
All ARCUS require a Master Quartz to work. It's the big crystal that sits in the center of the quartz pad.

Master Quartz.
Master Quartz can be changed to different ones if a person wants, but you need to at least have one or your magic phone won't work.
Currently there are 3 Master Quartz in Kaisou: Canon (Elliot's), Force (Rean's), and Mirage (Emma's). Elliot does not have access to Rean or Emma's right now, so we'll just focus on Canon. Canon is a water-element Master Quartz that is primarily made for healing. At this time two of its abilities have been unlocked:
- Conjuring a bucket worth of water. This water can be used as a projectile attack or manipulated in other ways.
- A Basic Healing Spell that uses water.
There's more abilities available, most of them that center around healing spells, stronger water spells, and regeneration power.
The other slots on the ARCUS can be filled with other normal quartz and a second Master Quartz. It looks something like this when fully filled. I have not regained any though because who can afford a bunch of magic rocks in this economy.
ARCUSes are custom made for their specific user, but there's nothing that indicates that you CAN'T use someone else's ARCUS. It'd probably just be a bit more difficult. So in theory yeah, someone would be able to use Elliot's ARCUS if you have it. When an ARCUS is used, it has a signature flash of blue light. Larger/More difficult spells take more time to conjure. Just having an ARCUS somewhere on your person allows you to tap into the power (Elliot for example keeps his ARCUS in a side pouch while Toval carries his in his hand).
Theoretically anyone can use an ARCUS but there's varying degrees of skill with one. Elliot is extremely skilled with using an ARCUS and can do a lot of stuff, while Rean can manage A Fireball.
ARCUS can do other stuff like Combat Links, Overdrives, and Brave Orders - but I haven't regained those yet so THATS ANOTHER DAY.
The phone part
The ARCUS II is also a phone. It works basically like a typical smart phone. Digging around the phone part will gain the following stuff:
- A list of contacts that are names of Canon!Elliot's friends and family. Only Rean and Emma's numbers connect to anything.
- Music files. Lots of music files.
- Some photos of Elliot's friends (plus this dude) and these teenagers. It's pretty typical photos you find on anyone's phone about their friends.
- Some chat logs with Elliot's friends. Other than the occasional weird term here and there, it's pretty standard chat logs you'd expect from a group of friends in their early twenties that are really into combat.
- A phone game called POM. It's barely been played. The only person on Elliot's friendlist in the game is a guy named Gaius, who is always offline.
Libra is also accessible on the phone and will download itself. However it'll always log into the account of whoever is LOOKING at the phone rather than Elliot's. Cause magic man.
