Being in a band i pretty sweet, but hard to do for the long-term if you don't have your heart in it.

Yeah...it just wasn't really my style? It was very boy pop band.

I vaguely remember joining in high school as just a fun side gig? To take a break from my usual musical work. But then they got....really serious about it.
