He was planning to propose but everything being digital threw him off and he...didn't handle it well.

That is a sign of the strength of your relationship, I think. Talking out your problems and finding common ground.

That's true enough. Both of us have things we need to work on. It's better to acknowledge that than pretend everything's perfect.

Yes, acknowledging flaws is much more important. Otherwise you cannot fix what isn't working.
