While I can understand the appeal of doing so, is it not better to pour your time and effort into original pieces...?

Not if your talent is in sound editing. Though it is an original piece.

Besides, is it really that different from what Postmodern Jukebox does? It takes songs we already know and present them in a different way so we hear something new.

Anyway, moving on. Tell me which one you prefer:

A. Original
B. Acoustic

... Well. Yes. The postmodern jukebox version reworks it from the ground up and forms a new song in one cohesive unit. It has a theme and sticks to it, even if it is using the lyrics.

That would be my personal preference for artwork, or creating covers of. I'm sure mixing songs into one works perfectly fine in some instances but this example wasn't one I think worked especially well.

... Both of them are nice? In different ways.

I'm not sure even I can pin my tastes down. I listen to what I think sounds good, which can be anything depending on the day.

Your passion for art is so strong and you don't let anyone deter you from it.
It's pretty inspiring!
It made me realize there wasn't anything wrong about being serious about my own art.
Which by art, I mean music of course.

I have been told it is stubbornness and single mindedness before, but thank you.
If something makes you happy, and urges you towards positive growth, then indulging it is good.

Besides, your music is good and you should be allowed to help it grow all you can.
