[Carefully, he leads Matt over to the kitchen table as it's the closest. He pulls away so he can pull out a chair for Matt to sit on.]

Well...let's hope what he says is true. I...M-my magic hasn't been working well this week, truth be told.

[ Matt sinks into the chair with a long exhale and takes a moment, biting his lip as he talks himself through the next steps in his head. Neither of them are actual medical professionals and he had been relying so much on Elliot's cooking the hadn't racked up as much first aid experience as they otherwise would have. ]

No magic? I heard something... about missing powers. Green light flashing and abilities disappearing. Ring any bells?

[ He reaches up to undo the hidden clasp at neck of the suit and lowers one hand to clutch at his side while he unzips with the other. Slowly the material peels away from his body. ]

[He'll reach over to try to help him with that suit in any way he can. Since uh yeah, can't be easy to get off when you're in pain]

Not sure about the green light...just know it happened recently. My magic just...suddenly not working.

I still remember the app, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Hmmnngh. Maybe a... psychological effect? Or... fatigue?

[ Matt meant to sound more thoughtful giving suggestions but as soon as the wound is uncovered he can't pretend it's not there. He clutches his side on instinct and grimaces, holding in his other reactions to the pain. He takes a deep breath and forces his hand away so Elliot can get a good look. There's a smear of dried blood higher up his side over bruises of various ages, further down between his ribs and hip is the stab wound. The suit provided some resistance, thankfully, and the result of the attack looks more like a group of smaller cuts than one big one. Blood is starting to clot in some areas, and ongoing hemorrhaging is minor, or at least nothing Elliot would be able to convince his uncle to see a doctor for. ]

It...maybe? I've been really stressed out with all the fire. Still, it's never been like this before.

[It was harder to work magic when he was tired, sure. But he's never had it not work at all. but there's no matter to think about that, as Matt shows him his wound. Elliot's eyes go a little wide. He's seen worse since becoming a healer, but it's still...pretty bad.

Man, it'd be a really great time to have his healing. Instead, he opens up that first aid kit he brought down to get ready to prep it the old fashion way]

Y-Yikes. It doesn't look like it was as bad as it could've been without the armor...but still looks painful.

[ The fire, of course! Matt turns his head more toward Elliot, brow creased with concern. Taking proper fire safety precautions, reminding Hime to set a timer when she was baking and not to put shiny objects in the microwave, prevention was the obvious first course of action making sure Elliot would feel safe and not get reminded about the fire. Nobody in the family was about to criticize him for being afraid of large fires, they were dangerous anyway. ]

I'll be fine as long as I get patched up.

[ The corner of his mouth curves into a smirk, half attitude, half a grimace. ]

Anything the family can do to help you relax? Provide a distraction? Or an ear to listen? -I'm great at that one.

[Yep, the fire was one big giant stressor. Sure. It'd be something most people find stressful, but it sure sent Elliot to new anxiety levels. Not that that's what's causing his magic to check out, but hey.

He starts working on taking a wet cloth and some rubbing alcohol to clean out the wound. Luckily with Eren studying to be an EMT, he is pretty caught up on first aid.

And...really Matt? Even Elliot, sweet pure Elliot, can't help but snark a little on this]

Haha...well, no one in the family getting stabbed would be a good first step, I think.

[RIGHT UNCLE MATT? RIGHT?]

[ Laughter ripples through his body followed quickly by Matt giving an "Ooh!" except it's from literal pain instead of figurative. Okay, a little hit to the ego, that was a good one. ]

That's fair. No plans to let that happen again anytime soon.

[ "EVER" MATT NOT "ANYTIME SOON." ]

Any other ideas?

[Well at least he laughed at it. When he makes a sound of pain, he'll gently press his hand to his side, trying to make sure the wound doesn't get worse]

Ehe, anytime soon? How about we go for ever...?

[But okay, moving on]

I don't know, I guess regular check-ins? So I know you all are okay.

[ He could go along and agree with "ever," getting stabbed by a sharp tail isn't something he wants to experience a second time. But, always with the buts, he can't make any promises about avoiding injury, only death. What a wonderful job Matt does being realistic about some things, like battle damage, and completely unrealistic about others, like running wild with said injuries. He doesn't reply to Elliot's suggestion but moving on... ]

I could send badly positioned blurry photos of your little cousin.

Well, I'd never say no to any of those...

[But Elliot's not stupid. He knows Matt dodged his request]

...But not exactly what I asked for Uncle.

Yeah...

[ You caught him. Matt hangs his head then slowly nods it. ]

It's a good idea. Foggy will definitely be on board. I uh... I worry sometimes about the pressure you're put under taking care of me.

[ At least he said that much. ]

I don't feel any pressure. [He looks up, offering a gentle smile] If anything, it makes me happy that I'm useful.

-- Erm, I mean not that I like you getting hurt but...I like that I can be of some use!

[ He immediately agrees when Elliot clarifies that he doesn't want him to get hurt. Matt can't help chuckling softly; nobody in their right mind would think that's what Elliot of all people would want. ]

You help in other ways too, you know. You mean a lot more than magic powers, those came by chance.

Aha...you think so?

[He bites his lip a little as he continues his work]

Yeah, but it feels like I got a lot more useful when I got them.

Absolutely.

[ He reaches out to put a hand over one of Elliot's to make sure he knows how important what he's saying to him is. ]

Your powers are a convenience. They make it easy but it's still your decision to do what you do. You're patching me up right now. It's not as fast this way but it's you.
