[He says it purely as a joke, but he's smiling. His present was nice, but man it's so easy to see the reactions between Crow and Rean. They really do like each other...even if they haven't realized HOW MUCH yet.
Man. He should've volunteered faster. He feels dumb trying to go after them with his gifts.]
Aha, well I guess that just leaves me... though I wish I'd gone first, with how great your gifts are, mine's gonna be anti-climatic...
[Anyway, he pushes his gifts towards Crow and Rean. For both of them, there's a framed physical photo of Class VII. For Crow, there's several starter packs of pokemon cards, all placed in a pokeball card holder. For Rean, it's a Alolan Vulpix plushie, with the snow coat included.]
T-There's a game shop near the build-a-bear in the mall, so I guess I got ideas.
Haha... yeah, I'm with Elliot. Please keep showering.
[As for Elliot's gifts, though... Rean opens up the photo first, and the warmth in his eyes is unmistakable.]
Anti-climactic? Elliot, this is awesome. [He could actually cry of happiness at just this, but he's holding it back. Maybe it's not from this lifetime, but it's a picture of him and his friends, isn't it? A picture where he looks so happy, the way this him now is even starting to feel.
He could be content with just that, but there's still another gift, isn't there? Time to open this up, and—]
...And this is adorable.
[No shame, he's hugging this thing. He needs the hug right now, okay? Too many warm fuzzies.]
[Crow leans over and playfully pokes that Vulpix's nose.]
Dang, just when I thought I was starting to learn all the first 150, they go and change their types.
[Thanks, Pokemon GO.
But he won't leave Elliot in suspense for long with his own gift, moving over to open it up to reveal...
Pokemon cards. A gift that would be thoughtful and nerdy on its own....but one has to consider who this gift is going to.
Crow's eyes LIGHT UP. It's rare to get excitement like this out of the man, he always seemed to have such a calm, amused demeanor about him. But he's frantically looking at all sides of the box, as if he's going to find the rules for it listed there.]
Oh MAN, it comes in CARDS too?? No one told me it was a CARD game!
[Crow didn't live under a rock as a kid--he knew OF the cards, but he never saw them nor did he think they were a game. Just...collectibles.]
[Rean can't help but grin that much wider at Crow poking Vulpix's nose. Cute...]
Haha, well, maybe you need to learn a little faster, old man—
[Oh, Crow's opening his other gift, and... oh, wow. That look on his face is something else. He really does love card games, doesn't he? Rean knew he liked them, he wouldn't have picked the bracelet with the poker charm otherwise, but there's a difference between liking something and this.
...Noted. He doesn't often play card games, but it's not as if he's opposed to learning how. Against Crow, he thinks it might be fun.]
Ah, yeah. I haven't played since I was really young, though, so I couldn't even try to tell you how it works now...
Haha, it's okay. I don't think anyone expects you to memorize every single pokemon and their type...
[Elliot sure hasn't. He only has that mad memorization level for music. Make a poke-rap for all 807 pokemon and then we'll talk.
but holy crap, that sure is a reaction from the present. He had hoped Crow would like it, he knows Crow likes card games, but to see him light up SO MUCH- man, it's such a great feeling. what is this feeling in his chest? Is it...pride?
Weird. ]
Hehe, yep! And don't worry Rean, I dug out my old deck and brushed up on the rules - so I can teach him.
[By the time you two finish your sentences, Crow is halfway through opening the box, looking like a kid who just got caught sticking a hand in a cookie jar.]
Yeah. Have you ever heard of Magic the Gathering or Duel Monsters? It's your deck against someone else's, and there are hundreds of cards you can build a deck from so long as it follows the rules. Like, only three of one type of monster, and I know there are others...
[He digs into his bag and pulls out a ziploc bag with a deck of pokemon cards inside. Clearly they are a few years older and a little worn compared to Crow's new shiny deck, but still good]
Not sure I'd call my deck anything special, but it was fun to play and collect. I mean, I know there's the video games...but I've always had a soft spot for games like this. [Card games, pool, board games ... basically any game that wasn't an actual sport]

[Crow and Rean seem to have opened the frame at the same time, leaning over to look to see if it matches.]
Rean's right, I wouldn't exactly call the one thing that connects us random guys to Retrospec as 'anti-climactic.'
[But he'll let Rean open his second gift up, red eyes lighting up as he sees Rean unashamedly hug the thing.]
Wait...that's...isn't it usually orange?
no subject
Yeah. This is its Alolan form from the newest games... normally, Vulpix is a fire type, but this little guy's an ice type.
[

[But awww, Rean hugging the Vulpix is ADORABLE. Would it be too much to grab his phone and take a photo? Probably.]
Aha, right. They took a bunch of older pokemon and changed their types to shake things up. Vulpix, Sandshrew, Meowth - a bunch of others too.

You have your own cards?

I'll let Elliot do the actual explaining, though.
