[And following Rean's pause, there's an equally long one on Crow's end, before he ends up typing a response. Seems like Rean's self checking himself again, and Crow's here to make sure he doesn't fall into the habit of over apologizing for some friendly bickering.]
Nothing wrong with pride in your work, Rean. I know, I know I tease you, but I mean it when I say that's a good quality to have
That's not an ego
You just know your stuff when it comes to rescuing the Mr. Fluffybottoms of the world
Yeah, there's nothing wrong with taking pride in your work!
Sorry, I really didn't mean to demean it. I was just worried about you guys bickering over it.
But the truth is, you bringing back those cats to their owners probably means the world to them. I know what it's like to lose a pet, it's really upsetting.
Maybe when he was a puppy, but now he's more just big and tired. Still, he's a good boy. Don't get too jealous, though, Crow, it's not like I had any say in it whatsoever... I was still really little, Dad wanted a hunting dog, and that was that. And like I said, he's Dad's more than anyone's.
Yeah, birds aren't everyone's things... they do kind of fit you, though! "Stick with," though... do you have birds now?
If your place allows it and you're sure you can pay for it, why not? Maybe that's just jealousy talking, though... can't adopt anything where I'm at.

Hehe, you must really like cats to put up with that to help them. Well, if they ever scratch you too badly, I'd be happy to heal you.

...
Hey speaking of, I actually got a memory the other day...I don't think it was too big of a deal, but Rean reminded me of it
no subject
Yeah, I do... but the relief on people's faces when they see their pets again is really what makes it worth it.
Oh? What'd you remember?
no subject
That's really sweet...[Elliot smiles at the screen. Rean sure was kind]
Yeah, what was it?
no subject
You've got a heart of gold
Oh...it was this cat that was stuck on a train car. Wouldn't let anyone but me near it, probably cause of my charming personality
[A pause.]
I had a cat toy too
no subject
[And then there's Crow's pause (paws?), and it leads Rean to a pause of his own.]
Yeah okay that's cheating and has nothing to do with your "charming personality"

Sorry. They're not, really
My work is just something I take some pride in, that's all. Shouldn't let my own overinflated ego drag down the mood, though

It's fine. Don't worry about it
[He'll just move on to something more important...]
You lost a pet?
no subject
Oh yeah, a cat actually. My home caught fire when I was a kid, and I never saw her after that so I don't know if she escaped or...
[y e a h]
I'd like to think she did though!
no subject
The pet topic takes priority.]
Sorry to hear about that, albeit belatedly
Cats are pretty resourceful, though. I'm sure she made it out ok
no subject
Crow's right, though. Resourceful, fast, and agile. So I'd like to think she did, too.
I'm 2/2 at ruining the mood here, looks like... Anyone have any lighter topics of conversation?
[Rean's an idiot, but he's smart enough not to continue to press this button for Elliot.]
no subject
And yeah, that's what my stepbrother told me too. She was mostly his cat, so if he thinks she got out, I'm sure it's true.
[But it's a relief to see neither are pressing the topic further. ]
Hmm...well while we're talking about cats- I take it you guys are cat people? Or do you like dogs more?
no subject
I like both, honestly. Something about a dog's undying loyalty just hits me pretty deep...
But there's a Maine Coon at Catmosphere that's taken a liking to me apparently so I can't say my heart's completely devoted
no subject
So I guess for me, cats are just a little more interesting since I didn't grow up with one. The allure of what you can't have?
...Haha. Well, they do say cats take after their owners, so even if you haven't adopted it, I can kind of see it...
no subject
I like both too actually, though if I'd probably stick with birds if I had to choose another pet.
Hehe, oh yeah I remember that guy. I know the cats at the cafe are up for adoption, if you ever decide you want a furry roommate...
no subject
Birds are a pretty unique choice, but then again, not so out of the ordinary for a musician when they can sing
[He'll admit, the thought has crossed his mind.]
Hm. It is kinda lonely here without anyone to judge me
no subject
