So she doesn't run away.

[ So she can't get away, he means, picking her up around the middle so there's no escape. ]

Let's go? I brought my car.

O-Oh, you want to bring her with...? [And he looks surprised] I didn't know you had a car.

[compendiem]

Yeah. [ a pause ] And yeah.

[ Again, there is no explanation, but he does at least use the front door this time instead of sneaking around through the backyard. Katkat's tail swishes behind her; save her, Elliot... ]

[fiddlestick]

[All of this seems legit and not at all worrying. Does this mean Minato has a license? that he passed the driver's test? There's so many questions. None that Elliot has the nerve to ask, alas] Uh- okay! [following after!!! Don't worry Katkat he won't leave you alone]

[compendiem]

[ He sure does have a license! Did you know, you can get one just by passing a multiple choice exam and not run anybody over in the half hour you're on the road? Easy peasy.

He's confident in his driving, at least, letting Katkat have full rein of the back seats while they take the front, but he's the sort of driver that drives with one finger on the steering wheel. Not even a full hand. A finger. And he keeps glancing over at Elliot rather than keeping his eye on the road, because it's just so weird. ]

It's really weird how obviously not-Souji you are...

[fiddlestick]

[A finger. Elliot is sitting in the front seat, fully buckled up and trying hard not to worry too much about driving with Minato. Surely it'll be fine. Right? ] Ahaha...yeah, that's what people keep saying. Is it really that different?

[compendiem]

[ It's a pointer finger, at least, and not the tip of his pinky that led to Naegi's toe being chopped off. He's survived this long driving this way. It'll be fine. They won't crash into the music store. ]

It's really different. He doesn't... laugh as much as you do. He doesn't ask as many questions. He doesn't skip any opportunity to make things into a joke.

[ And it's weird enumerating these things, as if he were close to Souji at all and knows him well enough to explain why it's so different. ]

He's easy to get along with, but it's hard to know him. What he's thinking. That sort of stuff. It's easier with you, I think.

[fiddlestick]

Oh.... [He listens to the explanation, and thinks over what he does know about Souji. Which truth be told...isn't a lot. He loves cats, he has a twin and a boyfriend, used personas, loved really bad food. But besides that...?] I never thought about it like that, but...it's true. He's pretty mysterious in a lot of ways. [...] Honestly, I feel a little bad because so many people who get body switched try hard to keep up the other person's life, but... Well, I'm not really sure what Souji does all day.

[compendiem]

He's a bum.

[ It's said immediately, but with a hint of a smile as Minato takes his eyes off the rear view mirror and pins his stare on the road. Souji's a bum, because all the times they've hung out together, they'd spend full days just bumming together. Unlike Clover and her schedule, Souji never seems to have anything planned, and he seems to expect Minato to have nothing planned either, calling him up or barging through his window whenever he wants. ]

It feels like he just does whatever he wants. He's probably doing that right now, subjecting your body to gross food, but it's why you should have the freedom to do the same. That's why we're doing this. No feeling bad. This is basically Souji's life anyways.

[fiddlestick]

[He'll give a dry laugh at that explanation followed by a sigh. Yeah. That sounds just like Souji] He better be at least watching what he eats. I don't want to detox a second body. [It's a pain!!!] B-But alright. As long as no one gets hurt, maybe acting wild would be a little fun.

[compendiem]

[ Has Elliot never acted wild in his life? Minato's heart hurts for him, and it's here he decides he'll dedicate himself to making today as wild a day as he possibly can, so that Elliot may never forget it. ]

That's the spirit. How do you feel like driving? Have you ever gone five miles an hour above the speed limit?

[fiddlestick]

[Look he's acted wild before! It's just hard to compare to Minato and Souji's level of wild] Hey! I-I've sped before! It's fun.

[compendiem]

[ Minato and Souji had a good time sitting in jail playing with their tomogachi. They have nothing on Elliot's road racing.

But Minato's glad to hear that; he pulls over on the next free curbside he finds, and starts climbing over to the back seats to join Katkat. ]

It's all yours, Elliot.

[fiddlestick]

[So much for Katkat's daring escape out of the car while Minato's distracted. But he makes an oh sound and starts to climb over to the driver seat-- and then remembers he's got half an extra foot on his legs, so maybe it'll be easier to get out and go around to the other side. Yeah good plan. Still, detour aside he slides into the driver's seat] Thanks Minato. Are you buckled?

[compendiem]

[ He wasn't buckled, but now he is, in the middle seat with Katkat on his lap while he leans forward against the seat belt restraints so that the whiplash might still kill him if Elliot slams the brakes. ]

I'm all set. Let's go.

[fiddlestick]

Okay! [As soon as he knows Minato's buckled and he's buckled himself (because SAFETY FIRST even when being wild!!)? He's slamming on the gas and speeding away from the curb as fast as one reasonably can. Because yeah, guess who goes speeding in his boyfriend's sports car sometimes. Vroom vroom ]

[compendiem]

[ Holy heck, Minato's car is not meant for this; it's a little old and clunky and it takes a lot of gas to accelerate and Minato settles back in his seat before Elliot's forced to slam his brakes- because he'll have to slam it if he wants the car to stop.

Things he should probably mention, maybe. ]

Can we get there in five?

[fiddlestick]

[Maybe. At least it's easier for him to pick up this is no sports car and he won't go AS fast as he'd like to. Still, better hope there's not too many turns ] I'm gonna try!

[compendiem]

[ Are there no air bags in the back seat? Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe he can... unbuckle briefly and try to sneak back into the passenger's seat while he still can; don't mind him Elliot, keep doing you. ]

You look like you're having fun.

[fiddlestick]

Haha- yeah! I love goin-- [Except the problem with Minato climbing back into the front seat is there's not a lot of room to do that, so it causes him to bump Elliot enough that he swerves and- Hits a fire hydrant with the front of the car. At a fast enough speed to make the hydrant break and start spraying water everywhere.] -- AHH!!!

[compendiem]

[ HIS CAR........

and also the rest of him, toppling over into the seat like he'd meant to, but head first like he hadn't meant to. He scrambles up as quickly as he can, and pushes the door open so he can get out. ]

—Elliot, can you move?

[fiddlestick]

[it's okay it just has a fire hydrant shaped dent in it. Elliot meanwhile looks shaken up but he'll look over at Minato] Y-Y-Yeah, I think so? Why?

[compendiem]

[ If he can move, then Minato motions for him to get out of the car, leaving himself and surveying the damages— a bit difficult, seeing as the hydrant is spraying water, and the high pressure means it's fifty feet or more in the air. ]

What a waste of water...

[fiddlestick]

O-Oh god...! [He gets out of the car slowly to survey the damage. And yep yep, this is bad. This is all very bad] I-I'm so sorry, this is all my fault- [And if things can't get worse, that sure is the sound of the police siren. Guess who passed a speedometer that alerted the police?]

[compendiem]

[ It's hard to make out the sirens when there's water roaring next to his ear, and Katkat is screeching in the back seat, too scared to get out of the car but not letting that stop her from letting everybody know she's in there. There are some murmurs of animal abuse from the gathering crowd, amongst calls for the fire department, a tow truck, and even more police. ]

It's... it's fine. It was an accident, so... [ He pulls Katkat out of the car and lets her gnaw on his fingers to shut her up. ]

You didn't have anything to drink today, right? That apple wasn't fermented... [ At the very very least, he does not want a DUI on top of everything else on his record. ]
