[ souji doesn't mind sharing since everyone is now pretty open with their powers. he was pretty secretive about at first but he has shown other people that he can summon fire fountains, dragons, and god knows what else so why not talk about his social links as well ]

I see the card for the Magician appear before me and the voice tells me that I have established a "social link", another term for friendship, for that particular arcana. It sometimes names the type of social link I have with them or it just lists the person's name for it, but for you, it deemed you as the Magical Chef social link.

That's...huh.

[Huh. Most people would probably find that explanation a little on the nutty side. Sure, Elliot doesn't think it's normal, but the term "social link" causes him to pause and think it over, his hand moving to his chin with a thoughtful expression. He very much remembers training with combat links in his own memories. Was this something similar?]

I'm not too sure, actually. I haven't experienced any extra abilities or felt any differences with them. I think they're just an indication of how close I am becoming with a person.

I don't know how high the ranks go, but with new ones, it starts at rank one but for me and my brother, for example, we're at rank nine.

[That's just rude. His claw isn't that weird. When he gains the ability to yank off his arm and turn it into a sword, then we'll talk]

Huh. W-Well I guess it'd be handy to have a way to know how close you are with someone. Unless it's just your feelings towards them...

I-In my memories, there was some ability called "Combat Linking". My memory's still pretty hazy about it, but I remember being acutely aware of what my partner was doing, even if they weren't near me.

Social Links don’t allow me to anything like that at all. It’s really just random flashes of light, pictures, and then an ominous voice speaking.

The thing you’ve described, Combat Linking, sounds like it would have a lot of problems with privacy. What if your partner is in the washroom or doing something private?

But can you turn it on whenever you like? Turning it off wouldn’t it a problem. It’d be a problem if you or your partner started turning it on whenever you wanted to snoop on each other.
