My friends had to break another friend out of jail after he got unfairly arrested.

I guess so? I'm glad they got him back, I remember him being a nice guy.

[He helped him study for midterms, even though Elliot's sure Machias could've benefited more from a smarter study partner]

But him getting arrested is bad. He didn't do anything, they just grabbed him off the street claiming he'd broken in somewhere. The real reason was cause he's the son of a political rival to some Duke. He was hoping to use the arrest as leverage. That's a little scary.

a duke? sounds like some corruption there... but i don't think i've heard that title in a long time. it almost feels archaic. what kind of world are you even from?

Corruption's a good word for it.
And...I wonder that too, honestly.
It's definitely not the dark ages. I remember tanks, motorcycles, and other tech like that.
But I also remember monsters, magic and giant mechs - so I doubt it's Earth.

it sounds like corruption is universal in every world... sometimes i wonder if there's a possibility there's a paradise world out there.

It's almost hard to imagine what that'd be like.

yeah, i do, too... but most likely it doesn't exist.

do you know if you end up serving justice to this duke you mentioned earlier?

Maybe not. But who knows, really.

I don't remember. I know a few of us decided to investigate a theft and vandalism case the authorities were ignoring, but that's not really on the same level as taking on a Duke. I don't even know what we could do about him.
