[He remembers that kid. It looks like she actually found some work- good for her! Though, now even slightly more concerned at what this will mean for this "party poncho".]
Alright.
[He...can't help but bite back a laugh at Eren's tail sticking out. But he'll head over to the vests, coming through the racks to try to figure out a look. Hmmm]
[ interning, working, volunteering— whatever a girl her age with talent can do around here. taking off what little clothes he has is as easy as putting the new fashion statement on. there’s only one hole in it. it’d be a snap to get into.
as elliot browses, eren will casually walk on over once he’s done. let the imagination wander because it’sacatastrophe. over his shoulder, he observes what his bond picks out, from colors to models— blues? ]
[Elliot continues to browse, looking through the vests to get ideas. Sometimes he pulls out his communicator to snap a picture of a particular vest to show Crow later. Because of course he's going to consult the guy on all things fashion. But at least he seems to be veering towards an idea of a look.]
Some ideas, I'm thinking maybe something cool and themed--
[He turns to look at Eren, and then immediately jumps back at that look]
Whaa-- Oh Aidios! That's even worse than I feared!!
[ so much for the party poncho :( eren looks around the premade pieces, and while some of them have back hole for wings, or harpy sleeves— wyvern dragons are so rare, it was hard to pull something out of their stock. I think you’re the only one here? it’s crazy! i mean, there might be some stuff from way back when? its p’rolly really old since that was when aefenglom actually had dragons, the intern explains as she points to part of their stocks all the way in the back.
[RIP party poncho. Maybe you're an idea too soon for its time.
Wow...this intern sure had very little tact on her. It reminded him a little of Millium. Both of them were acting very defeatist about this whole affair. But unfortunately for all, the masquerade was to be one of his music performances. Ergo, things he cared about had to be pErFeCt. There would be no mercy.
Eren can probably feel it on the bond while the intern chatters, like they had been in the eye of the hurricane, and now those raging winds that have consumed Elliot's mindset the past few days were coming back.
And as it happens, Elliot will get a smile on his face. A sweet yet terrifying "don't fuck with me" smile]
Um...excuse me, miss? If there aren't pieces that already fit a dragon like Eren, then wouldn't it be best to tailor an item so it fits your customer? With magic, making alterations should be a lot easier.
I mean I could do it for him, but I don't want to take your job from you, you know?
[ right where eren doesn’t particular care enough to object!!! he only stares at first, a few ❓❓❓ from his side of the bond and responding to him: ]
It’s no big deal.
[ please!!! calm yourself!!! the intern perks up with an um!!, fidgeting with the ends of the fabrics of her shirt as if to control an itch. “i’m not allowed to take new orders, boss says we’re full and—“
you can tell she really wants to do it, but should she really risk her one and only chance–? a look to the left, a glance to the right . . . before she bounces on her toes and holds a finger up. “please don’t tell anyone-!! and i’m super new to this, ok?!“
[Sorry what Eren? There is no calm here. Elliot is on the warpath right now. ]
Oh, is that so? Well wouldn't you get in trouble if they find out?
[hmmm. He does want to give this aspiring fashionista a chance. Sure, he's going to be very nitpicky, but that's the sort of challenges she'll face in the industry. So what to do...]
I know. I'm Elliot Craig. I'll be the main performer for the masquerade. Tell your boss that if they let you practice tailoring on an outfit for my Bond, I'll be happy to wear one of their ensembles on the stage all night. I'll even tell people who I'm wearing.
[Free spotlight and advertising, all night long. You don't get better than that.]
[ after a chirpy moment or two nodding her head, the girl speeds off wordlessly— if it worked or not, they’ll have to wait, but she at least looks certainly excited about the prospect and hopes to the sister gods she’ll get an ok to go through with this one. ]
You’re really serious about this.
[ honestly eren could’ve went with the party poncho. no qualms. ]
[Elliot watches her go. It feels a little nerve-wracking to use his name like that since he's never really had the power to do it before, but he does hope it works.]
...Yeah, I am. [He responds to Eren, giving a nod]
I know you don't get this kinda stuff but ... just because your shape is a little different from us, doesn't mean it's okay to shove whatever they couldn't sell off on you.
Besides, this could be a good opportunity for her.
[ it doesn’t . . . seem like such a big deal in the slightest, but elliot has the freedom to see it as such. it’s harmless, anyway. fashion: shit eren will probably never understand. nudity will be the ultimate freedom, either way.
she returns bustling with enchanted tools hovering after her, where they don’t fit in her arms full of fabrics and such— a measuring tape snakes its way to eren’s height and width at every angle, on its own, while a notepad and pen begin to scribble down the numbers, all while the girl (lets call her nina), separates the fabric by hanging each one on her shoulders. she has a purple and black samples in hand, holding it in front of eren’s scales and showing them both.
”if you have any suggestions, now’s the time!” she says happily. looks like it worked. ]
I just want my wings free.
[ that’s his only checklist. that and to not make it too ridiculous, like nina has been prone to doing in the past. looks like she’s getting pointers on how to channel her imagination and creativity, though. nothing outrageous. ]
[Elliot knows Eren doesn't get it, and that he wouldn't see why it mattered. But...Elliot was all too familiar with this tactic. Make something somehow inaccessible to a group of people, and then use their lack of having that thing as a reason to show why those people were lesser. It was a tactic nobles would use against commoners regularly back home. And he could only imagine what anti-monster propaganda would get fueled by Eren showing up at a fancy party in a poncho.
Elliot wasn't about to explain all that to Eren though. It was a complicated and systemic situation, and Eren wasn't the best at such social subtleties. It wasn't Nina's fault, and maybe not even the shopkeeper here. Still, it was important to push against it.
When she returns with excitement, he feels relief that his plan worked. A step in the right direction. He steps to the side, watching with a smile on his face]
