We haven't known each other for years.

His name is Rean - the guy I'm seeing. [Not the kid] We've known each other awhile, but we only started dating around September.

We met when we were teens, but then lost touch during college and reconnected earlier this year. [So not quite childhood friends]

He's the kind of guy who always thinks of others first. He's into history, anime, fishing, and cats. He even plays a bit of a guitar, though it's definitely more of a hobby for him.

When I'm with him? I feel like I can relax. [Which...is the real indication of how into him Elliot is.]

Not really, other than the fact that it'll give me the perfect excuse to say your love life is a fanfic.

[Just saying....

Yuri listens attentively and doesn't interrupt Elliot. He knows him well enough to understand how much it means to have someone able to relax his favorite music nerd.]

Oh? So you've adopted a child unofficially and/or illegally, basically? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

[He gives a sigh. Yep. Leave it to Yuri to phrase it the worst way possible. There's some strange sounds on the other end as Elliot grabs his staff and casts a quick soundproofing spell around his room. He's not sure exactly where Hunter is right now, but he rather not risk him overhearing]

I mean, technically yes. But it's not like there was exactly a legal way to do it. And I couldn't just leave things as they were.

[Oh. This sounds serious. Yuri drops the act as he listens with a frown.]

How bad?

[It is unfortunately, very serious]

Textbook bad, honestly. His uncle's a monster, there's no other way to put it. And worse, he still doesn't realize that... or rather, he won't let himself realize it.

[Denial for the sake of survival, or something along those lines]

And then on top of that, he was dropped into our world and expected to fend for himself even though he's 16 and had no practical life skills.

[Yuri is quiet while he listens to Elliot. His frown becomes more of a scowl.]

Not a lot we can do if he doesn't actively acknowledge it yet. Other than support him. That being said... I'll help where I can. My door's open if you need to vent or just take a break. And I'm not gonna say no if you need a babysitter.

[As far as Yuri's concerned, all of the kids in fine arts are his kids. He might not teach them and have that kind of rapport with them, but that won't stop him from trying to support them anyway.]

[He gives a soft, humorless "ha" at Yuri's swear]

Thanks Yuri. It's not like he needs constant supervision, in fact in dangerous situations he's probably more capable than both of us. And he's made a lot of progress from when he first got here! I might take you up on the venting though.
