I can understand that. It was quite an adjustment I had to make when I moved to the US. I had just become of age to drink harder liquors in Germany, but moving here meant I could only drink privately if I was desperate enough.

Indeed. In Germany, you can start drinking beer and wine publicly at 16. It's a very different culture, certainly. When I was in college, disclosing where I was born and raised meant that I got dragged into debates on the legal age of alcohol more times than I could count. The majority was in good fun, though tiring for me, but there were a handful of bad faith debates as well.

When my dad was home, he'd make me have them for dinner once a week because "you should value gaining proper nutrition over taste".

It probably would've been more than once a week, but I think my sister put her foot down.

Nope, if only. Apparently he makes his soldiers have them six days a week when they're on active duty, even when they're just stationed at a base.

Ha...no kidding, Jusis. I think all it really did was make me more picky. Rean and I have certainly had disagreements about what food to have in the house where I MIGHT had been a tad unreasonable.
