you're gonna need these. also he says you're not shit and that you couldn't pull him out of the gutter if you tried. the trick's to pull him by the scruff.
[Guess who doesn't escape the Birthday Centaur?! Literally no one. Ever. That's who!!! For his birthday, Elliot will have a box delivered to him. Inside will be an exquistely made chocolate violin. It's clearly been made by an excellent hand- which is to say Zulius paid someone else to do it. He doesn't want to POISON Elliot after all. There's a note attached:]
Happy B-Day, Elliot! Hope you have a FABULOUS one! You can totes eat this if you wanna, it's the gift that keeps on giving ;)
[ The last time he got a cake box from Zulius, it resulted in learning something horrifying. So he's a little apprehensive at the arrival of this one. But Zulius seemed so happy with Vergil, surely he wouldn't go back to his dad, right?
Right??!
After handling the package like he's in the bomb squad, he's pleasantly surprised by the beautiful cake inside. Oh right, it's his birthday - that skeleton last night wasn't just another night terror. Its a big relief. He's gonna have to find some way to thank Zulius.
Elliot, may I ask for your assistance in the maintenance of an instrument? This was given to me, and I know what it is but I do not wish for it to fall into disrepair in the future.
[And then Takame sends him a picture of a two-stringed instrument with a bow leaning against the side of it. It's a little bit worn down as if having been used very frequently.]
I believe it is called a Morin Khuur. I've no experience maintaining any instrument. I've never owned one before, but one of my dearest friends in my home world is a musician. This is hers.
Well maintaining an instrument isn't unlike maintaining a weapon. It needs regular care to make sure it stays in top condition. Is it a wooden instrument? If so, we could probably use the supplies I use to maintain my string instruments.
[Hm. When put that way Takame can understand better, weapons did need to be maintained well or they would fail to do what's needed.]
It is a wooden instrument. If you are able to provide what I need to maintain it, it would be most appreciated. Even if I cannot play it, I would like to see it in its best condition.
Hey, Elliott, it’s Leon—I know this is probably going to sound a little abrupt and weird, but can you check on my office for me? It’s just…
[With two new Black Order members in town right after Teresa’s death and in the middle of the investigation, Leon’s a little—on edge. He still remembers Teresa rifling through his papers, and while that hadn’t come to anything in the end, the anxiety still lingers.]
I just wanna make sure it’s still locked, that’s all. Pretty sure I double-locked it, actually, but with new people showing up…you never know.
But great! That makes it easier. I'll bring over the materials tonight and go over the proper steps you need to take. That way I can also figure out any special needs the patient has.
[The address Leon provides is in the nice but affordable part of town, in an apartment building that’s well-maintained.]
There’s a bodega on the corner of the street, so if you see that then you’re on the right track. You don’t need to go inside, just check if the door’s unlocked. That’s all.
[A tired sigh.]
Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but after Teresa went sniffing through my papers, I’m. A little wary.
Haha, it's okay. I understand the paranoia. I can't tell you the number of times I got to my driveway and then thought "did I leave my door unlocked?" and it won't leave until I check.
I'll check after work today and let you know, promise.
Thanks. Really. It’s been needling at me since Douman showed up—it’s probably nothing, I hope it’s nothing.
[But Leon doesn’t like the timing of Douman and Dickson’s arrival here. Maybe they’re trustworthy, he hopes they are, but something about them, Dickson in particular…]
We’re doing fine out here. Except, uh, for Husk and Jinwoo—they’re fine physically, their tent just got set on fire the first day and it’s kind of gone downhill from there.
Ah, no. I've not considered it... I confess I often fear breaking instruments because of my heavy hands. There are times where I've been able to sing, but that is quite different I realize.
Haha, I understand- but there's a lot of instruments that are pretty durable! Honestly many of them require a surprising amount of hand strength to play them well.
But hey, singing's a good start. I'd love to hear you sing sometime!
One that speaks to me? Hm. I am trying to learn more things that I like. I've never done this with instruments before. I may ask for your assistance on this as well.
[Digging himself deeper into the grave and will seek music senpai's approval at every turn now, congrats.]
Hehe, I'd be happy to help! I got quite a collection, so maybe we can try with some of those. I've been meaning to invite you and Yusuke over for dinner sometime.
[Blade attaches a picture of a violin on his workshop table. The varnish is a deep almost mulberry hue.]
Any chance I could get your input on the sound and tone when you're free? I can tell that it sounds better than the other ones I've made, but I'm not a violinist.
This is a gift for the closest thing I have to a mother, so the violin has to be perfect. If it's defective in any way, I need to fix it before I give it to her.
